Giving Thanks, Serving Others
One of the ways Monaca UMC shows love for our neighbors is by feeding them! Look no further than our food pantry for an example. At each month’s distribution, dozens of local families receive groceries purchased and donated by our generous church and community.
In the spirit of Thanksgiving and loving our neighbors, Monaca UMC made a special effort to feed the community in November. We held our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive for the food pantry so that we could provide this month’s recipients with turkey and all the fixin’s to make a full Thanksgiving meal.
On November 11th, we were able to help 32 local families by providing food for their Thanksgiving dinner. We could not do this without the generosity of YOU, our church family! Whether you donated food, made a monetary donation, helped out, or said a prayer, it all came together, and we were able to help these families!
A special thank you to Pastor Jim and Mark McCullough for carrying the food boxes out to cars!
We thank ALL of you for your continued generosity!!

Additionally, we prepared a Thanksgiving Day feast for the guests of the Beaver County Men’s Shelter! This is our second year of replacing the regular meal we would have contributed for November with a special holiday meal. Thank you to everyone who contributed! And special thanks to Allen Johnson for coordinating the ministry each month, making all the deliveries, and organizing this huge Thanksgiving meal!
New for November this year was the Thanksgiving Pie Sale coordinated by Gretchen Harich. In addition to the sale serving as a fellowship opportunity and church fundraiser, Gretchen and her team made additional apple pies to be given to food pantry patrons at the December 9th distribution. What a treat!
My heartfelt thanks to the “holy rollers” of the church for all of their help making the dough for the apple and pumpkin pies. We had a lot of fun and laughs! Mike McCullough is now the official apple-skinner and cleaner-upper! Thanks also to Mike for the pizza!
Love,
Gretchen Harich
On Behalf of Everyone at Monaca UMC, Happy Thanksgiving!
