Highlights from Holy Week & Easter

Holy Week and Easter were full of meaningful activities for children and adults!

To kick off Holy Week on Palm Sunday, Pastor Jim led the kids in a “Palm Parade” around the sanctuary before sending them off to Sunday School, where the class took advantage of the nice weather and decorated the sidewalks in front of the church with chalk. After worship, Eileen Tritt made crosses out of the palm leaves during our 5th Sunday donut fellowship!

On Maundy Thursday this year, our sister church, Aliquippa First UMC, hosted a Seder Meal followed by a moving worship service with vocal and bell choirs. Kathy Glovier led a Good Friday Tenebrae that invited participants to engage their sense and emotions as they reflected on the final hours of Christ’s life.

And on Easter Sunday, what an extra special blessing it was to add three wonderful human beings to the membership rolls of Monaca UMC: Rick and Sue Yardic and Ryan Sands (pictured below with Pastor Jim Sands). We are honored to be their official church home!

We thank God for Ryan, Rick, and Sue, and pray that Monaca UMC is where they feel a deep sense of belonging, grow in their faith, and share their unique gifts to serve our Creator.
