Holy Week & Easter Activities

Holy Week is the last week of Lent, commemorating Jesus’s final days before his resurrection on Easter Sunday. Be sure to join Monaca UMC and our sister church, Aliquippa First UMC, for the following Holy Week and Easter activities:

PALM PARADE at MONACA UMC
MARCH 29th – 11AM
Palm Sunday kicks off Holy Week. During worship on March 29th, Pastor Jim will lead the kids in a “Palm Parade” reminiscent of the celebration of Jesus’s entry to Jerusalem before his arrest and crucifixion.

MAUNDY THURSDAY at ALIQUIPPA FIRST UMC
APRIL 2nd – 6PM
This service begins at 6pm in the Fellowship Hall with a potluck meal. Meat is provided, so please bring a side or dessert. After the meal, we’ll move to the sanctuary for worship, and end with Communion in the chapel.

GOOD FRIDAY at ALIQUIPPA FIRST UMC
APRIL 3rd – 2PM
Everyone is invited to attend a unique Tenebrae Service on Good Friday. What might it have been like to stand among the crowd at Jesus’s trial, or to feel the sting of the crown of thorns? This service invites you to engage your senses and emotions as you reflect on the final hours of Christ’s life. Begin with the fellowship of the Last Supper, move through the shock of betrayal, and reflect on the fear, suffering, and sorrow of the crucifixion.

EASTER EGG HUNT at ALIQUIPPA FIRST UMC
APRIL 4th – 10AM
Pre-K–6th graders will love finding eggs on the lawn of Aliquippa First UMC, with more activities inside. Join the fun!

SCHOOL EASTER PARTY at MONACA UMC
APRIL 5th – 11AM
Christ is risen! He is risen indeed!
The kids will be dismissed for the Sunday School party after the Children’s Message during worship.
