New Pastor Starting July 1

In the United Methodist Church denomination, pastors and congregations do not choose each other, nor do they choose for how long they will be in ministry together. Conference bishops see the big picture of retirements, ordinations, strengths, and opportunities, and appoint pastors to serve Jesus in varying locations accordingly.

Before worship on April 12th, Pastor Jim announced that Bishop Sandra Steiner Ball has appointed him to serve at Faith Fox Chapel and Oakmont UMCs effective July 1, 2026.

This means Monaca UMC and our sister church, First UMC of Aliquippa, will be led by a new pastor beginning July 1. That appointment has not yet been announced.

Pastor Jim stated, “For the last four years, my family and I have been blessed to serve with the people of Aliquippa and Monaca. …We’re thankful for our time in Aliquippa and Monaca, and we’re excited to see what’s in store in this new appointment.”

Likewise, Monaca UMC is thankful for the time we have shared with Pastor Jim, Kristen, Ryan, and Molly! We will miss seeing them each week!

Please pray for the Sands family and the people of all of the affected congregations as this new season approaches.

Also please pray for Bishop Steiner Ball and her Cabinet as they discern Pastor Jim’s replacement at Monaca and Aliquippa First UMCs.
