Women’s Ministry & Outreach

There are a variety of ways that Christian women may want to get involved in outreach projects at both Monaca UMC and our sister church, First UMC of Aliquippa (or Aliquippa First, as it is often known):

The Eves

The Eves Women’s Group was formed to accommodate women who enjoy meeting in the evenings. The Eves gather on the first Wednesday of each month at 6:30pm, with the meeting location alternating between the two churches. (Check our calendar for meeting locations.) This group is dedicated to raising funds and collecting needed items for church ministries and local charitable organizations, as well as taking on service projects to benefit the community. Past events include a bake-a-thon to show appreciation to First Responders, a trivia event, and a sock hop!

Most recently, the group has published a cookbook titled Food and Fellowship: When We Meet, We Eat! Members of both congregations have contributed close to 200 recipes such as Yankee Beef Stew, Slow Cooker Pierogi Casserole, Hot Chicken Salad, and Lemon Velvet Cake.

The books are $13 each and can be shipped via media mail within the contiguous US for an additional $4.50 per book. (You may pick up for free, of course!)

You are also welcome to purchase with cash or check in person or by mail to either church. Be sure to note “cookbook” with your payment and provide your full name and contact information.

Women’s Ministries

Women’s Ministries is an informal group of women at Monaca UMC, who raise money for causes in the community. This is the group behind the church’s annual rummage sale, held each spring. If you’d like to help with these fundraisers, contact us.

United Women in Faith

United Women in Faith (UWF) is a global organization hosted locally by Aliquippa First UMC. According to the UWF website, the organization seeks to “connect and nurture women through Christian spiritual formation, leadership development, creative fellowship, and education that they can inspire, influence, and impact local and global communities.” This organization is open to women from The United Methodist Church as well as other faith traditions.

UWF meetings, which feature a program or speaker each month, are typically held at Aliquippa First UMC (2816 Brodhead Rd, Aliquippa, PA 15001) at 1pm on the 3rd Wednesday of the month, September–June.* Please contact the church office at (724) 375-5287 or secretaryfirstumc@gmail.com for more information.

*There is no UWF meeting scheduled for January 2026.
